Ratio of total cholesterol levels to hdl cholesterol levels is also very important in healthy cholesterol management.  Optimum ratio of total cholesterol levels to hdl cholesterol levels is at a ratio of  3.5 : 1 i.e. if total cholesterol levels is 175 mg/dl then hdl cholesterol levels should be at 50 mg/dl.
